Aging Well

Anchor 1
Anchor 1

Getting old shouldn’t be about

“been there, done that” and waiting.

Sit in the dark a while, and anticipate another dawn.

Let those first rays of light tickle your imagination

To make today a memory for all time.

Concoct a way to give humanity a chance to know you.

Do what you do best and if you don’t know what that is,

Pretend you do and do something good for the world.

It isn’t too big for you.

Resurrect youthful dreams and let them take hold again,

Re-invent your prayers.

Finish your scrapbooks for your children to inherit,

Label your finest treasures for posterity,

Someday, someone might appreciate them.

Then, go and do!

Why revel in doing nothing when you could

pen a verse, or be a part of a child’s dreams?

Those aches and pains mean you are alive.

Signaling hurry up, before the sun decides to rest.
