Blank pages, stare back.
Either there is too much to say,
or nothing at all.
The mind is a curious thing.
Either thoughts tumble pell-mell or
There is an abyss.
Today, too many thoughts produce nothing.
So, the sorting begins, we start parsing thoughts
into their respective but unlabeled cubbyholes.
Just like our kindergarten cubbies,
they become hodgepodges.
Without focus
a “respective” cubby becomes
a disconnected mess.
And too many thoughts produce nothing.
Those phrases or thoughts that seemed articulate,
Worth saving, worth saying,
fail to stand alone and
together they feel bland and empty.
Maybe, it is the cubby.
An empty milk carton,
A mis-matched glove,
Two broken crayons,
Orphaned buttons,
A favorite sweater,
A scribbled note,
Two erasers,
No pencil.
No! Each of those is a story.
Think about…
“who what when where why or how”
Connect the disconnected.
Write about
talk about
pray about
connections.
It is in the connections
that it all makes sense,
not in the differences.
